Youth in Action -

One of YIA's founding principles is that youth assume leadership roles within the administrative structure of the organization. There are 14 Directors on Youth In Action's Board - 4 adults and 10 youth. The board is the driving force behind our organization. Youth members play a significant role in determining YIA's focus, programs, and goals, along with overseeing the annual budget, evaluating staff, and working to make sure YIA's mission is fulfilled.

Youth are nominated by current Board chairs, and once nominated are given extensive training as to the scope of their responsibilities. Adult board members mentor youth board members in their specific areas of expertise.
